Symposium on Virtual Worlds for Education (VWE)

Immersive virtual worlds have begun to show their value as educational platforms. Simulated environments allow designers to create authentic virtual spaces where students can have experiences otherwise impossible: either for practical, financial, or physical reasons.

By combining elements of immersion, exploration, and simulation with innovative user interfaces, software agents, and pedagogical strategies, and with a focus on Internet delivery, a new approach to education is emerging. Papers are solicited for a symposium to discuss and study these issues.

Symposia topics include (but are not limited to):

VWE Applications User Interface to VWE
Software Agents in VWE Models of Pedogogy in VWE
Simulation Strategies in VWE Student Modeling in VWE
Assessment of Learning in VWE Tools for Building VWE
Literature Surveys of VWE Philosophical Foundations of VWE
Appropriateness of VWE in Content Areas Competition and Collaboration in VWE
Implementation Issues in VWE Bandwidth Issues in VWE
The Economics of VWE The Future of VWE
