Genes

Genes

Most of the fundamental ideas of science are essentially simple
and may as a rule be expressed in a language comprehensible
to everyone.
					-Albert Einstein

Genes are the basic building block of life. They determine things like the color of our eyes, and hair. They are made up of a sequence of DNA that occupies a specific location on a chromosome and determines a particular characteristic in an organism. These different letters come in many, many combinations, that is what makes us unique. The different letters stand for certain chemicals that make up DNA.

Adenine

Cytosine

Guanine

Thymine

Groups of three letters stand for different proteins.
